RESEARCH - Previous student film opening

I decided to watch the film opening "Violet". This film opening was made from A2 students who took media studies.

Location
I believe that the location of this film is really good as the woods are really mysterious and quiet. By having this location, it gives the audience a hint of what the story is about. In most wood scenes, people usually get lost which gives the audience a hint of something that is in the forest. This gave me and my group a hint of where we should do our locations and we would like a similar location.

Editing
In my opinion i loved the editing in this opening. It gave me a little fright as it was really dark and quick. By having quick shots, it gave me a shock.I think that by having fades in the opening, it made the opening very mysterious and intense. By doing this it made it much  more thrilling. The editing also changes the colour of the video black and white. This makes the video look old like the Victorian times which makes it more frighting.

Sound
Throughout the opening, there is a spooky sound , heart beats and wind. It is really simple and is repetetive, this is so we could concentrate on the images more than the sound itself. Also by doing this, it makes the audience have an adrenaline rush to what they are going to see.

Camera
Mostly there were long shots of the girl in the woods. This is used so that we could see her whole body so the audience called see the blood on her clothing and see what she is wearing. There are also medium shots so we could see closer to her face. At the end of the opening there is a close up on her face so we could see her facial expression. This makes the audience's frightened because there is blood on her face and she looks really scary.
