Intertextuality

Intertextuality are when films borrows ideas from each other. The audiences would recognise these by the camera angles, Mise en scene, editing and sound from both films.

An example of this is from the famous shower scene from "Psycho". In this clip, many films have borrowed ideas from this scene.

In the clip "The stepfather" They have borrowed the idea from psycho when there is a man in the bathroom with her trying to kill her. Also when the man falls down the exact same shot from psycho is shot compared to psycho's. The Mise-en-scene, Camera shot and Editing are very similar between the two clips.

By doing this, in our thriller , we could use ideas from other thrillers to put into our own thriller film
