The thriller sub genre that inspires me the most is the psychological thriller as we get to see psychological issues explored through fiction. They do not usually publicize psychological/mental issues in real life as it is risky but through these types of films you get to go through thought processes and their emotions and it also adds to the intensity, suspense and tension that thriller films contain.
An example of a psychological thriller is Black Swan, which deals with Paranoia. The main character Nina (Natalie Portman), a ballet dancer who finds herself locked in a web of competitive intrigue with a new rival at the company Lily (Mila Kunis). This film takes a thrilling and at times terrifying journey through the psyche of a young ballerina whose starring role as the duplicitous swan queen turns out to be a part for which she becomes frighteningly perfect. In my opinion when I first saw the poster it seemed like a horror movie but it's characteristics makes it a thriller, specifically a psychological one. A particular feature of this film that could be used in my groups thriller opening is the heavy use of the non diagetic sound - orchestral music - as it adds to the intensity and the way the camera was used to out across the emotion of the characters, with the heavy use of close ups and extreme close ups
