PLANNING - Target Audience

The target audience for our Thriller is ages 15-29. we chose this age group as we thought it's easier to convey a message to people our age. Although the age profile for thrillers, especially psychological thrillers, is older we thought that as we go through similar situations so it's easy to relate. Our storyline is about a male and female who met on a social networking site and deciding to meet up and go out on a date. However the male character is a serial killer and he uses social networking sites to lure girls, in order to kill them. We done research and it showed that our target audience are the most active users of social networking sites.

The graphs show that the most active users of social networking sites is our target audience, predominantly 15-24 year olds which falls into our age bracket.

Week 2 of filming 27/02/13

In week 2, we had a lot of difficulties of filming at Dionne's house as Dionne had Bugsey Malone which was a little disappointing but nothing could be changed so as a result, I decided to film at my house which saves much more time and hassle. In this week, our team has a lot of stress and was arguing a little but if as a team, we decided to stop and just got on with our work. I decided to take the camera overnight so we could film on a Wednesday afternoon which we did and we got most of our filming finished. We still had a few that we needed to do but in the end, we actually finished what we needed to do. I was really happy that my team did not fall out on each other or else we would have actually had no thriller.

This is a picture of all of us at my house taking a break before we started filming:

I am really glad that everyone came on this day so we could finish our thriller.

Week 1 of filming 11/02/13

In week 1, we were filming at Dionne's house which all went good. Dionne was taking care of the camera and was filming with Atilla helping her and me and Joyce were acting. Whilst we were getting ready and getting dressed, Attilla and Dionne was setting up the camera to save time. We decided to get the shots retaken many times so it could look perfect.
We also gotten to know each other much more outside of college which gave us more teamwork.
During this day, I felt really exited that we were filming and getting everything ready. We had really great fun.

What we are going to do during workshop

We are going to all come in on Monday and Thursday at lunch time and Wednesday at 3 o clock. During this time Alan and Attila is going to try to finish off the editing and try to finish adding the titles by Friday as it is our due date of the project. Dionne and Joyce would start to blog about what has happened during our filming and keeping our work updated as much as possible. On Wednesday, we would swap over. If we have enough time left, we are going to try to redo the scenes that we need a little bit work in and replace it with the scene we have currently.

We are also going to be blogging at home and keeping our blogs updated as much as possible. Also Alan would be making the sounds for the scene with the help with Dionne.

Feedback about our thriller from class

The feed back that we had was not what i really planned on hearing but gave us a big goal of what we had to do.

Things that were good:

Overall the feedback was that it was alright and one thing that was pinpointed was that we had good match cuts and most of the shots were good. However we had a lot more to improve on.

Things that need improving
  • Retake the dark shots at the start of the thriller
  • Use sound as a signal for danger/ to create tension and suspense
  • Use Foley sound
  • At the ending, use a huge fade so it looks like it has been blacked out
  • Make the story clearer
  • Add the scene where the man prepares the belt so it's understandable to the audience and to make other scenes clearer
The points raised are all things that we also noticed and we think will help to make our thriller opening better and we are going to take on all the points from the feedback.

Costume and Props (Male Costume)

Costume and Props

This is the costume for the male. We used all black as it gives more of an effect that he was evil and also we wanted him to dress smart so it would look like they was on a first date. Also in this photo we added the belt that he uses to kill the woman.

This is the box for our thriller, inside the box would be pictures of the woman and information about her. It also has information about the women that he killed previously but the things inside the box does not show in the opening of the thriller.
